Site information · Updated 19 October 2026
Privacy policy
This notice explains what information is handled when you visit barji.co.uk, contact me, or use the portfolio chat assistant.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by Barjinder Singh, an individual based in Hyderabad, India. For privacy questions or requests, email barjinder028@gmail.com.
Information handled
- Basic browsing: the website host and network providers may process connection details such as your IP address, requested page, browser and device information, and request time to deliver and protect the site.
- Messages you send: if you email me or contact me through a linked service, that service handles the contact details and message you choose to provide.
- Chat questions: when you use the chat, the question, a random page-session identifier, and the conversation needed to answer follow-up questions are sent to the chat API. Do not include sensitive personal information.
How the chat handles information
The chat API uses your IP address for abuse prevention and rate limiting. When the rate limiter is available, per-IP request records expire after 10 minutes. The conversation is held in the API process's memory and is not saved by the chat application to a conversation database; it is lost when that process restarts. The page creates a new random session identifier when it loads and does not save it in browser storage.
To answer a question, the API may send the question and recent conversation context to Groq for language-model processing, and send the question or a reformulated search query to Oracle Cloud for retrieval against Barjinder's portfolio information. The API records aggregate counts and response-time totals, not individual successful questions, for the optional statistics shown in the chat.
The API's operational logs include the reformulated search query for retrieval requests and may therefore contain content from your question. If the API's optional Langfuse integration is enabled, text from messages blocked by its safeguards (up to 300 characters) and the fixed refusal response may also be logged for debugging. The application does not attach the visitor's IP address or session identifier to that Langfuse log. The site owner has not confirmed the retention periods applied to provider or infrastructure logs; those providers may process and retain information under their own terms.
Purposes and service providers
Information is used to deliver and secure the site, reply to messages, operate the chat assistant, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate chat performance. The site is hosted by Netlify. The chat service uses Groq, Oracle Cloud, and Upstash Redis; Langfuse may be used for blocked-message diagnostics if configured. These providers process information to supply their services. Their systems may process data in countries other than the one you are in.
Cookies and similar storage
The site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. It does not use browser storage for analytics or advertising. The chat session identifier exists only in page memory and is cleared when the page is reloaded or closed. See the Cookie policy for details.
Your choices and requests
You can choose not to use the chat and can contact me by email about information you have provided. Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or to object to certain uses. Email barjinder028@gmail.com to make a request or raise a concern. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority; people in the UK can contact the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If the site's data practices change, this policy will be updated here with a new revision date. This notice describes the current implementation and is not a substitute for advice about the laws that apply to your circumstances.
